AB de Villiers retires from all forms of cricket, AB de villiers announces retirement - It has been an incredible journey, but I have decided to retire from all cricket.
Ever since the back yard matches with my older brothers, I have played the game with pure enjoyment and unbridled enthusiasm. Now, at the age of 37, that flame no longer burns so brightly. That’s the reality I must accept - and, even if it may seem sudden, that is why I am making this announcement today. I’ve had my time.
Cricket has been exceptionally kind to me. Whether playing for the Titans, or the Proteas, or RCB, or around the world, the game has given me unimagined experiences and opportunities, and I will always be grateful.
I would like to thank every teammate, every opponent, every coach, every physio and every staff member who has travelled the same path, and I am humbled by the support I have received in South Africa, in India, wherever I have played.
Last, I am aware that nothing would have been possible without the sacrifices made by my family - my parents, my brothers, my wife Danielle and my children. I look forward to the next chapter of our lives when I can truly put them first.

Dit was 'n ongelooflike reis, maar ek het besluit om uit alle krieket te tree.
Vandat die agterplaas by my ouer broers pas, het ek die speletjie met pure genot en ongebreidelde entoesiasme gespeel. Nou, op die ouderdom van 37, brand daardie vlam nie meer so helder nie. Dit is die realiteit wat ek moet aanvaar - en al lyk dit skielik, daarom maak ek vandag hierdie aankondiging. Ek het my tyd gehad.
Krieket was besonder goed vir my. Of ek nou vir die Titans, of die Proteas, of RCB, of regoor die wêreld speel, die spel het my ondenkbare ervarings en geleenthede gegee, en ek sal altyd dankbaar wees.
Ek wil graag elke spanmaat, elke teenstander, elke afrigter, elke fisio en elke personeellid bedank wat dieselfde pad gestap het, en ek is nederig oor die ondersteuning wat ek ontvang het in Suid-Afrika, in Indië, waar ek ook al gespeel het.
Laastens is ek bewus daarvan dat niks moontlik sou gewees het sonder die opofferings wat my familie gemaak het nie – my ouers, my broers, my vrou Danielle en my kinders. Ek sien uit na die volgende hoofstuk van ons lewens wanneer ek hulle werklik eerste kan stel.

You've given everything to RCB and I know that in my heart. What you mean to this franchise and to me cannot be put into words. The Chinnaswamy Stadium will miss cheering for you and I'm going to miss playing alongside you my brother. I love you and I'll always be your number 1 fan.
